Note: The Being Straits Foundation, Sitnasuak Foundation, Kawerak, Inc., Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation, and Norton Sound Health Corporation have partnered together to ease the process of applying for scholarships for the people of this region. The application is called “CACHE” which stands for “Combined Application for College and Higher Education.”

This corporation funds new and continuing students who are SNC shareholders and their descendants. The maximum award provided is $1200/year depending on the funds available, a student’s GPA, and financial need. (Note: The Sitnasuak Foundation is administered by the Bering Straits Foundation.)

Kawerak, Inc. funds students who are tribally enrolled members of a Native Village within the Bering Straits Region, with the exception of Gambell and Nome Eskimo Community.

NSEDC offers scholarships to students enrolled full-time at an accredited college, university or vocational school. These scholarships provide supplemental funds for higher education or vocational training not to exceed the amount of $2000.00 per semester or training session. Applicants must be a Norton Sound region resident.

NSHC provides funding to local students accepted into an accredited 2 or 4 year program in health care or a health care related field. Applicants must be able to show financial need after other sources of funding have been considered. Native preference is given to the Scholarship Program.
