Camps and Internships
AISES
The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES), a national nonprofit organization, offers financial, academic, and cultural support for Alaska Natives and American Indians to pursue studies in science, engineering, and other academic areas.
An AISES Student Chapter can be found at UAF. This chapter meets every other Thursday throughout the academic school year with an emphasis on learning, leadership and excellence. Meetings feature speakers from a wide variety of academic interests and scientific professions. Student members are also involved in a variety of community service projects. AISES meetings provide mentoring connections among students and with faculty and Native professionals. Many scholarship, employment, internship and graduate opportunities are publicized at the meetings.
