INBRE Research

Alaska INBRE (IDeA Networks for Biomedical Research Excellence) network is a statewide program that aims to bring 21st century biomedical research to Alaska and to involve more Alaskans in the research process. Both graduate and undergraduate students have an opportunity to participate in research.

Undergraduate Summer Research Experience (USRE)
USRE Grants support on-going research in the labs of INBRE supported faculty. USRE students receive $4,500 as a student award and up to $2500 for project related research expenses, services, and supplies (does not include equipment, software or books).A tuition award for 3 research credits is also provided.

Deadline for USRE 2012 proposals: April 20, 2012

Graduate Research and Mentoring Fellowship
The objective of this fellowship is to support a graduate student conducting research in one of the theme areas of the AK INBRE PRogram:  infectious diseases, toxicology, bioinformatics or moledular and cellular basis of disease.  Preference will be given to students working in the labs of Alaska INBRE faculty. Students who are full-time graduate students currently enrolled in Ph.D. or Masters Degree programs at UAF or UAA and in good academic standing are eligible to apply. Graduate Research Fellows may receive up to 12 months of award payments, as well as tuition support for the Fall and Spring academic semesters.

Deadline for 2012-13 Graduate Research & Mentoring Fellowship proposals:  February 15, 2012
