NACTEC

The Northwestern Alaska Career and Technical Center (NACTEC) assists students of Nome and the Bering Straits region in the successful transition into life beyond high school. High school students are provided the necessary resources and skills for employment opportunities, the pursuit of postsecondary education, and independent living skills through instruction in four focus areas: career and technical skills, career exploration, life skills, and work readiness skills. Intensive 2 to 4 week sessions are offered throughout the school year in many areas. NACTEC offers several courses in the health field. They include: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Trauma Training (ETT), Health Career Exploration, and an Introduction to the Health Field. Job shadowing, guest lectures and mock interviews are all part of the career exploration process. Dual college credit is offered for many of these courses. NACTEC is located in Nome and recruits students from across the Nome and Bering School Districts.
