NACTEC

The Northwestern Alaska Career and Technical Center (NACTEC) assists students of Nome and the Bering Straits region in the successful transition into life beyond high school. High school students are given the opportunity to explore vocational education and postsecondary opportunities and careers through job shadows and visits to the local college campus. Students also practice employability skills, such as interviewing and resume writing, and independent living skills, such as money management and cooking. NACTEC offers several courses in the health field during the academic school year. They include: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Trauma Training (ETT), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Health Career Exploration, and an Introduction to the Health Field. Dual college credit is offered for many of these courses. NACTEC is located in Nome and recruits students from across the Nome and Bering School Districts.
