VHOP
The Ethel Lund Village Health Occupations Program (VHOP) offers Alaska Native high school students a week-long opportunity to experience first-hand what it is like to work in the health care field. Each year the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) selects 12 Alaska Native high school students from southeast Alaska interested in the health field to visit Sitka’s Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital. Participants learn about different health careers through job shadowing and other hands-on experiences, as well as staff presentations. Travel stipends to help cover transportation costs to Sitka are available. Housing, meals and some evening entertainment are provided.
Program Dates: April 24-27, 2012
